The Beach

Beneath the Street

The Beach Beneath the Street is an experimental, uncommodified space for diverse autonomous, organizational and artistic experiments, in pursuit of a free and dignified life in common.

In addition to free literature, we aim to provide space to community members, artists and activists in Chicago for collaborative activities, be that long-term projects, meetings, workshops, events or something else.

Recognizing that only a communal spirit and ceaseless drive to experiment with new ways of living and sharing will get us through the twenty-first century, we emphasize collective autonomy, self-organization, and emancipation, and we oppose all forms of bigotry and oppression.

SUPPORT

The Beach Beneath the Street is a new experimental hub, library, workspace, printshop, and place of encounter in Chicago. It is volunteer-run and funded entirely by donations. Your support will help us pay rent and utilities, purchase supplies, and increase programming in the space.
